Steven Seagal’s bulletproof Arizona desert mansion

American actor, screenwriter and black belt martial artist Steven Seagal is no stranger to the concept of the apocalypse. With a reported net worth scaling $20 million, the Michigan-born Hollywood star has reportedly been training in martial arts since he was 17. But has he been training for doomsday?

Snapping up this bulletproof Arizona estate for $3.5 million in 2010, he certainly appears prepared for some sort of end days invasion. Rolling across almost 12 acres of Sonoran Desert in Scottsdale, the hidden hideaway is sitting pretty 3,000 feet above sea level.

If you manage to sneak past the bulletproof glass walls that surround the whole compound, or these historic statues standing guard, you’ll find a grand total of five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, and a guesthouse for safety-seeking visitors of the Hard to Kill star.

Should Seagal come Under Siege, he has plenty to keep himself occupied, not least via the stylish and state-of-the-art kitchen – complete, according to the listing, with walk-in pantry and breakfast bar, necessary for post-apocalypse refueling.

Next up is the rapper and songwriter, Post Malone, who is reportedly worth an equally mega $45 million. Since 2013, Post has made waves in the music industry with his unusual merge of musical genres and heartfelt lyrics. But what does the ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’ artist make of a potential apocalypse?

Last year, a 2018 clip of Post referencing the US government as “the biggest lie in the world” resurfaced and went viral on TikTok. The suspicious star went on to urge people to “move out to the country”, which is what he decided to do himself. According to TMZ, Post purchased this Utah home in early 2018 for $3 million. The New York Post wrote he bought it with the intention of making it apocalypse-proof.

Located in Salt Lake City, the residence spans almost 13,000 square feet and is situated on nearly seven acres of land with its own secure steel entrance. Originally built in 1986, the singer’s compound boasts canyon, mountain and city views – unless you’re in the proposed underground bunker, that is.

Once inside, should you manage to get in, you’ll find five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a gourmet chef’s kitchen and, of course, a wine cellar. Not bad for ringing in the end of the world.

What’s more, the secure Utah abode features plenty of entertainment via its basketball court, pool and hot tub, as well as an outdoor kitchen. Despite his rather out-there ideas, he's not the only celeb to have fled LA.

Ronda Rousey’s doomsday-ready Riverside ranch

Former professional fighter Ronda Rousey is our next safe house celeb. Having been a standout star of WWE and UFC, as well as a bronze medal Olympic judo winner, Rousey was the first female inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame and is worth a reported $14 million. But why did she end up buying an isolated piece of land in California after retiring?

Ronda and martial artist husband Travis Browne bought themselves a ranch, which they named Browsey Acres, in Rousey’s Riverside, CA birthplace. Starring in an episode of Hot Ones, the Olympic medal winner joked that they were preparing for a zombie apocalypse, but later clarified they were just intent on living off the land and becoming self-sufficient.

Thanks to the fighting champion’s YouTube channel, her millions of fans can take a tour around the ranch and peek at the wholesome couple’s daily routines, as filmed in 2019. There’s even a video showing how they harvested their own turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.

On her website, Ronda says: “It’s like our apocalypse training wheels.” The pair have spent many man hours digging up the land and populating it with veg, chickens, goats and even a bull. The site is regularly updated with articles and videos documenting their fulfilling ranch life.

Kanye West’s Malibu bunker

Full of unique ideas that fall far from the beaten track, our next doomsdayer may come as little surprise. The multi-award-winning rapper is known to hold a strong opinion, and has even alleged to have offered to repopulate a post-apocalyptic world. But where will he begin the new civilization?

While the singer owns two ranches in Wyoming – one complete with underground bunker to prepare for a world-ending situation – he may be more protected in his designer concrete box in Malibu. But how much did he pay for the privilege?

Amid divorce proceedings from Kim Kardashian, Kanye was rumoured to have paid $57.3 million in an off-market deal for the Malibu retreat in September 2021, skinning almost $18 million off the original asking price. He’ll need the extra cash for supplies, we assume.

Three ensuite bedrooms reside on the lower floor, while a lounge, kitchen and bathroom sit across the middle level. The top floor, however, is reserved for the apocalypse-surviving chosen one, with an extravagant bedroom that hosts views out across the burning remnants of planet Earth from the luxury rooftop terrace. Rihanna’s Los Angeles rental fortress

Since reportedly dealing with stalkers in her previous homes, this Grammy-winning singer is another fan of a super-secure abode. Harboring a net worth of $1.7 billion, we can see why she’d want to stay protected. Let’s talk a look inside the so-called ‘Fortress’ she rented.

Now a mom, Rihanna may want to move back to her Los Angeles concrete and steel fortress. Designed by David Lawrence Grey Architects, the 12,000-square-foot property was the Barbadian star’s temporary home in 2014 for a mere $60,000 a month.

Sotheby’s International Realty

Featuring castle-esque, 60-foot high ceilings and huge walls of glass, the fortress was built in 1994 in a distinct Bauhaus style, with luxurious dual ensuite bathrooms to be found in the grand master suite.

Each of the seven bedrooms within require key fob entry, while the master suite plays host to a secret panic room, invisible behind a bulletproof door that slides down from the ceiling.

You’ll also find the usual celebrity safe house amenities throughout, such as a chef’s kitchen, guesthouse and gymnasium. Rihanna would have also enjoyed a more secure cinematic experience, in the fortress’ own movie theater according to the real estate listing.

Lev Leviev’s London Palladio prepper palace

Although not actually the father of the Tinder swindler, Lev Leviev is a celebrity in his own right, worth between $1 billion and $1.5 billion via the diamond industry. The Israeli 'King of Diamonds’ has every reason to live in a more than secure ‘safe house’, which we can take a look around…

The Pinnacle List

Lev Leviev’s London Palladio prepper palace

Sitting adjacent to the infamous ‘Billionaires Row’ on Compton Avenue, the eight-bedroom Leviev estate resides within a private gated road with 24-hour security. Named The Palladio Residence, the home was purchased for $46 million in 2008 and boasts over 17,000 square feet. It is reported to be one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Britain and was designed by royal architect, William Bertram of Bath.

The diamond tycoon’s security-ridden palace is guard-gated, with 25 remote infrared CCTV cameras and a bulletproof, armor-plated front door worth $100,000. The hallway itself is modelled on the Palace of Versailles ‘Hall of Mirrors’ and features a hand-carved $1.5 million stone staircase.

At the touch of a button, the family room can be transformed into a home cinema, while the basement poolroom, fitted with gold-plated tiles, can flip into a ballroom/nightclub. Handy for those long, lonely end-of-the-world evenings.

What’s more, there’s a fireplace worth $200,000 hand-carved from Cliveden stone, and a one-ton basin in the bathroom, carved from a single piece of white Iranian onyx. Should the billionaire decide to take a little sunny jaunt, however, the security system can be remotely controlled from a yacht in the Caribbean. Phew.

Joan and Melissa Rivers’ Los Angeles TV home

If you fancied yourself a fan of the mother-daughter duo Joan and Melissa Rivers, you may have enjoyed the house from Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? and In Bed With Joan. But you might not have known it came on the market recently, and withheld a hidden secret within a wardrobe…

Redfin Real Estate

Joan and Melissa Rivers’ Los Angeles TV home

The Pacific Palisades house hosts six bedrooms and five bathrooms, with an original asking price of $6.2 million. It’s no surprise the celebrity family house ended up selling selling for $8,052,338 in Jan 2022, however, with its TV star associations and ocean views. After her mother's passing in 2014, Melissa has a net worth of $120 million.

Flooded with natural light, this gated home also comes with a converted garage – with two bedrooms and bathrooms for guests or in-laws, as the real estate listing suggests – complete with a temperature-controlled 700-bottle wine cellar. Bottoms up!

The traditional, east coast abode may seem homely and down to earth, but a surprise awaits in the master suite. Here lies access to a safe room, disguised as an unassuming walk-in closet – ideal for escaping crazed fans or, indeed, the impending cataclysm.

What’s more, the new owners can enjoy ocean views from their infinity pool atop a newly enlarged entertaining patio with built-in barbecue, fireplace, pool/spa, grassy lawn, sports court and trampoline area. Perfect for wiling away those boring post-apocalyptic hours.

Dr Dre’s covert Brentwood castle

Record producer and NWA superstar Dr Dre certainly isn’t one to shy away from fans and acclaim, but his property might. Worth a whopping $500 million, the Grammy-winning rap legend decided to purchase one particular palatial property with an archaic feature of security…

Zillow

Dr Dre’s covert Brentwood castle

Bought in 2014 from Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele, Dre snapped up this Brentwood palace in California for a neat $50 million. The famous former owners reportedly spent close to $40 million designing and building the abode over four years, complete with privacy-friendly moat and cobblestone bridge!

Zillow

Dr Dre’s covert Brentwood castle

Designed by Richard Landry, the 13,890-square-foot home sits on almost four acres and hosts five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. While other parties were understandably fighting to put offers in, as TMZ reports, the ‘Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang’ star pipped them to the post.

Zillow

Dr Dre’s covert Brentwood castle

Although Brady and Gisele offered the property furnished, Dre reportedly had no interest in the pair’s furnishings. We’re sure he was more than happy with the bones of the property, however, such as the huge antique shuttered windows, seven fireplaces, or the master bedroom balcony with its own outdoor bathtub.

Zillow

Dr Dre’s covert Brentwood castle

While he may not be preparing for the end of the world, Dre is probably kept busy tending to the koi fish that inhabit his moat, or cleaning out the infinity pool, cabana and pond with a waterfall. That’s not to say the property isn’t ready for an apocalyptic power cut, however, as it reportedly comes with solar panels that power the house and a greywater system that irrigates the lawn, pond, and waterfalls. If you fancy perusing more safe houses, check out these doomsday prepper properties you could actually buy.
